CEOs and COOs speak different languages

I’ve seen the good, the bad, & the ugly ways these polar opposites communicate in companies I’ve worked with, for, and known.

And, as a Second-in-Command, I lived them.

While I hate to admit it,

Sometimes I was the main reason the communication with my CEO didn’t run smoothly. Because I:

  • Didn’t always value their strengths.

  • Disagreed in meetings (making everyone in the room uncomfortable).

  • Said no to ideas before learning more about them.

I didn’t understand that we:

  • Moved at different speeds.

  • Saw the business differently.

  • Processed information differently.

  • Were more successful working together than alone.

As a result I missed opportunities to work together and figure out what would really move the company forward. 🤦‍♀️

Only when I started to see that our power came from our differences &

Develop strategies to communicate effectively were we able to:

  • Create the organizational structure required to scale.

  • Improve the company and team cultures.

  • 2x the business.

When CEOs & Second-in-Commands understand each other’s strengths & “language,”

Everybody wins (including the business). 📈
